oh god, this is exactly like one of my childhood nightmares: I'm running around, utterly lost, in a pine forest in winter time, and I hear this weird noise and see...

this.

Thank you for giving me such a delicious, scary trip down memory lane!

Amazing imagery. I love the creature work and setting. Great detailing and fine sense of dread. Well designed.

YES!
And the smell of the trees is really awesome!
As a kid I grow up climbing on the trees and staying there all day! :w00t:
You're welcome for the feature and glad you enjoyed! :D

Specially the needled ones!
Strange thing is that the region of the Netherlands that gave it's name to our country, Holland (Holtland = treecountry) has almost no trees left...
Cities and meadows are all that you can see on the horizon, and water...
I myself lived for most of my life in the eastern and northern part, less cities, more countryside.
Trees make me feel at peace.

Come here than, we have 10000000....000 of trees here and the part of my town where i Live is really beautiful.. Few steps up and I'm in the forest! Yeah, countryside is really good, but if the people are good.. I really love to make my self a house in the countryside where everyone is dead and no one lives there.. I would totally enjoy my life that way :D

Nice, projects strong mood.

The creature reminds me of Grouk from the Moomins Valley. It is a children's book, anyway Grouk is scary and terrifies everyone on the outside, it also freezes everything around unwittingly because the truth is it is very lonely on the inside, no one wants to be its friend. (Sorry if I am rambling) Cheers!

Hey!
Thanx for the com(pli)ment!
The Moomins are cool!
Childrens book/series with lots of weird things and imagination.
Love it!
The creature of Tannenmoor could indeed be related to Groke...
Although it has no nose...

Hahaha!
I know the Moomins, but never heard of Groke, so I checked it on Google.
Did the book have illustrations?
Would like to see those.
I only remember the tv-series.

Depends on the edition, but I guess the Japanese TV series is the most popular. :D

Coooo.... I scrolled down my browser screen - expecting to see a nice woodland scene,

Then I spotted the horror!

To say I did a double take would not be an exaggeration! I looked a bit like this :O

Again I have been reminded of a ghost story I read once which scared me silly.

Your artwork is very good nontheless. The fact that you chose to draw it in mono helps enormously. The detail is tight but not messy, the image is clear and frighteningly cold.

I felt a shiver when I tried to look into the horror's eyes!

Great work

Glad to hear that the Tannenmoor entity is frightening.

To add to my previous message - I found the Ghost story I mentioned. It was called "The Red Lodge" by H R Wakefield.

Sorry but that has bugged me all day, I had to get home and rummage through my books! I can sleep now :happybounce:

Wooo!
That must have been scary...
I love the out-doors, but grew up and live in a (for US-standards small) city.
So being in the woods of Sweden or Germany, by night, always makes me feel a bit uncomfortable.
My imagination starts to go in overdrive and the monsters are closing in...
:omg:

Looks like the Pacific Northwest. Saw a scene just like this in real life (complete with hairy monster-man) on a camping trip a few years back. Totally love it!

I also grew up in a city, though I traveled all over the world and made my home in many different places. I got over my fear of being in the woods at night during wilderness survival camp, and now feel completely comfortable alone out there. It's not an easy task, though! :)

Great!
In the Netherlands (not much bigger than Maryland) there is no real nature or wilderness left. So getting used to it here indeed is not very easy! :D
Guess it takes a lot of perseverance.

Mainly, it's a matter of training you mind not to panic, lest you go into what's called "wood-shock" and become disoriented, wander deeper into the wilderness, and die of exposure. I do so by telling myself that I'm the scariest thing out there in the woods! :D :D :D
